Amplifiers available for purchase from Test Equipment Center include a variety of RF/Microwave Power Amplifiers, Voltage Amplifiers, Transconducance Amplifiers, and Bi-Polar Amplifiers.
RF/Microwave Power Amplifiers convert low power signals into higher power signals. Key characteristics to know when selecting your Amplifier include desired gain, power output, bandwidth, power efficiency, linearity (low signal compression at rated output), input and output impedance matching, and heat dissipation. These amplifiers are rated into specific classes of operation which help users identify the amplifiers efficiency and linearity characteristics. Classes A, AB, B, and C are considered linear amplifiers, while classes D, E, and F are considered switching amplifiers. Linear amplifiers offer higher levels of signal linearity, while switching amplifier classes offer higher efficiency at the cost of decreased linearity.
Voltage Amplifiers output voltage signals at levels higher then the voltage signals applied to their inputs. Most Voltage Amplifiers used in the test equipment industry increase the voltage levels of very small input signals in order to allow for easier measurement and display of the original signal. Typical Voltage Amplifiers offer gain in X1, X10, X100, and X1000 ratios.
Transconductance Amplifiers output current signals that are proportional to the amplifiers voltage input. In the test equipment industry most examples of Transconductance Amplifiers are designed for use in precision current generation used by calibration laboratories to verify meter accuracy. Transconductance Amplifiers generally have multiple output ranges, and may output current to 100 Amps or more.
Bi-Polar Amplifiers are operational amplifier instruments designed for amplification of arbitrary AC waveforms and sustained DC power. Bi-Polar Amplifiers generally can provide continuous output of signals across their rated output voltage, current, and power ranges. |
